Here is an old bass boat. The new owners just picked it up for a song and wanted to rejuvenate it.

What better way than a good old fashion paint job!

1. Some before pictures.

2. Painting is easy. Making the paint stay on for the long haul takes a little more work. Especially over faded giant metal flake gel coat.

3. This requires a lot of sanding and the removal of everything bolted down including the gauges.

during

4. A few spots on the bow (and other areas) needed a little glass work to fill in some cracks and old bolt holes.

during

5. The whole boat is sanded down with 80 grit paper. (rough)

during

6. Then it is sprayed with a special polyester primer. Then sanded with 220 grit.

7. Then it is sprayed with AwlGrips epoxy primer. (great water barrier).

8. The boat is sanded now with 400 grit and painted with Awlgrip.

9. We added a few stripes to give it that fast bass boat feel.

13. Looking better with the gauges installed. Needs the carpet to complete it.

14. Did the whole number on the motor cover. Can't have a fresh paint job with nasty looking motor.

15. Done!
